Yes. The BioWork Process Technician Training certificate will substitute for an entry-level biotechnology class in either AAS degree track.
Yes. Wake Tech offers multiple biotechnology certificates that can be completed independently or as part of a degree pathway.
The Bioanalytical Lab Technology track includes two certificates: Biotechnician Level I and Agricultural Biotechnology.
The Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology track includes five certificates: BioAutomation, BioMaintenance, BioManufacturing, BioMechatronics and BioQuality.
Yes. Both AAS degree tracks are designed with stackable credentials, allowing you to build from certificates to a full degree over time.
Courses are offered in-person, hybrid or online (where appropriate), with a strong emphasis on hands-on lab work.
Most Bioanalytical Lab Technology track courses are offered in traditional 16-week formats in Fall and Spring semesters. Many Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology track courses are offered in condensed eight-week sessions in the Fall and Spring semesters and the Summer term.
Most Biotechnology program courses are offered during daytime hours, especially lab-based classes.
Bioanalytical Lab Technology track courses are taught at the Lilly Science and Technology Center on RTP Campus. Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology track courses are taught on Eastern Wake and Southern Wake campuses.
The Bioanalytical Lab Technology track trains for positions such as lab technician, research
assistant and quality control technician. The Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology track trains for positions like process technician, manufacturing associate and quality assurance or validation technician.
