RALEIGH, N.C. (April 22, 2026) – Wake Tech proudly welcomed 122 students – the largest class in the college's history – into the Beta Alpha Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) during an induction ceremony Wednesday on Southern Wake Campus.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two‑year colleges, recognizing students for outstanding academic achievement while offering leadership development, scholarship opportunities and pathways for professional growth.
Carlos Sacerio, former PTK vice president at Wake Tech and a current student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , served as the guest speaker. He reflected on how the college helped shape his educational journey and shared the lasting impact PTK has had on his life.
"Through Phi Theta Kappa, I found something powerful," Sacerio said. "I found a community of peers striving not only for academic excellence, but for meaningful personal and professional growth."
As part of the ceremony, each inductee received a white rose, symbolizing beauty, purity and intelligence.
To be eligible for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, students must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 and demonstrate strong character and citizenship.
