Virtual IT Speaker Series to Feature Big Data, Cybersecurity, and Internet of Things

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 20, 2020) – Wake Tech is hosting a virtual IT Speaker Series featuring three experts sharing insight and challenges of emerging technologies.

The speakers will talk about technologies as solutions, as well as discuss the role of technology during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The speaker series will be a Microsoft Teams Live event. The event is free and open to anyone but space is limited to 200 participants. Participants will be able to ask questions of each speaker using a moderated chat feature.

All sessions will be held from 4-5 p.m.

Here is the schedule of speakers and topics:

May 28: Teena Piccione, executive vice president and chief information officer of RTI International, will talk about big data and data science. At RTI, Piccione oversees a global team focused on information technology services and support across 12 regional offices in the U.S. and 11 global regional offices along with 72 countries where project work occurs.

June 25: Jerry Fralick, IT consultant and former chief security officer of Lenovo USA and former chief information officer of the State of North Carolina, will speak about cybersecurity. Fralick has more than 40 years of experience in the information technology field and public sector management and operations.

July 23: Rachael Newberry, program director at RIoT, will speak on the Internet of Things as well as loT and unique loT solutions in entrepreneurship, public health, and economic health. At RIoT, Newberry supports IoT innovation in the region through helping small businesses, startups, and corporates explore new business opportunities that emerging technologies present. In 2018, she launched RIoT’s premiere innovation program, the RIoT Accelerator Program (RAP), for early stage startups.
