The Building Information Modeling Diploma is an upper-level credential that demonstrates skills in basic and advanced three-dimensional modeling and building information modeling studies.
Students learn basic Revit Architecture knowledge and Advanced Revit software skills. Advanced Revit studies include knowledge of advanced integration with other architectural software, including Architectural AutoCAD and SketchUp.
The program trains students in advanced Revit modeling techniques, upper-level Revit rendering skills, parametric modeling and family creation, three-dimensional site modeling and topographic modeling. Advanced construction document detail skills are integrated with Revit structure, Revit MEP and additional Revit software plugins, including introduction to energy modeling, Autodesk 360 cloud Revit customization tools within the user interface.
Students are required to complete the prerequisite coursework in the diploma, including Introduction to Architectural Technology drafting courses, Architectural Materials, Architectural History and Introduction to Adobe Photoshop to be able to apply knowledge of architectural building systems to generate Building Information Modeling that aligns with architectural industry standards.
The BIM Diploma is part of the Architectural Technology AAS degree coursework. Students who complete the diploma have the option of taking additional courses to eventually complete the associate degree. These courses are also used along with the associate degree to transfer to four-year architecture design-related programs with which Wake Tech has articulation agreements.
