Program Outcomes

The mission of Wake Tech's Medical Laboratory Technology is to prepare competent laboratory technicians with the knowledge, skills and professional attitudes required to meet entry-level competencies needed in their role as a member of the health care team. This mission is consistent with those of the Health Sciences Division and Wake Tech.

The program uses various measures to gauge its effectiveness:

• Program completion, which is defined as the number of students who complete the program within a year of entering the third semester of the program
• Passing rate on the first attempt at the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification exam within a year of graduation
• Job placement, which is defined as a student finding related employment or continuing his or her studies within a year of graduation
