Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology

The associate degree programs in Heavy Equipment & Transport Technology apply to trucks with Classes 4 through 8 ratings.

Construction Equipment Systems Technology offers two associate degree pathways: a general pathway and a Construction and Forestry pathway sponsored by Deere & Co.

Programs are structured to allow students to take either of the pathways and, with only one or two additional courses, complete the Diesel and Heavy Equipment degree.

Core coursework includes the theory of operations, troubleshooting techniques and repair procedures for engines, transmissions, fuel, electronics, electrical and hydraulic systems. The Construction Systems Technology concentration courses include brakes, undercarriage and equipment repair. The Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology curriculum requires steering and suspension. Other related courses will be required, along with general education courses.

Graduates should qualify for entry-level employment opportunities at businesses that repair construction equipment. Entry and advancement levels depend on the training completed, knowledge and ability levels, work performance and ethics.

The associate degree in Agricultural Systems Technology has a general pathway and a Deere Tech Pathway. With a John Deere sponsorship, students are eligible for the Deere Tech Pathway upon completion of required classes.
