“My teachers were incredible, some of the best I’ve ever had. They really pushed me to excel.”

Wake Tech alumna Holly Danford says her years at Wake Tech prepared her well for the future. She excelled academically and was among the first students in Wake Tech’s Honors Program. When she transferred to NC State, she applied for NCSU’s Legislative Internship program – and was accepted!

Holly has a keen interest in politics, and as an intern she got to see North Carolina lawmakers in action. Throughout the 22-week program, Holly worked in the office of Wake County Representative Grier Martin. Her duties include research and sitting in on sessions of the General Assembly.

Holly maintains that Wake Tech was the best preparation imaginable. “My teachers were incredible, some of the best I’ve ever had,” she says. “They really pushed me to excel.” As an example, Holly reflects on one Wake Tech writing class: “That class helped me hone my skills so that I can write almost effortlessly now.” Those skills will no doubt be put to good use. Her goal is a career in law or politics, so she can one day have an impact on healthcare legislation.
