The Emergency Medical Science (EMS) program is designed to prepare graduates to enter the workforce as emergency medical service providers or paramedics. The program offers two options: a two-year degree (AAS) program in Emergency Medical Sciences and the Workforce Continuing Education (non-degree) EMT course.
Students acquire basic and advanced life support knowledge and skills through classroom instruction, practical laboratory sessions, hospital clinical experience and field internships with emergency medical services agencies. Students may be eligible to apply for both state and national certification exams. Employment opportunities include ambulance services, fire and rescue agencies, air medical services and specialty areas of hospitals, industry, educational institutions and government agencies.
