The Associate in Engineering curriculum is designed to prepare students to successfully transfer into an engineering degree program at a four-year university and requires a strong background in mathematics and the sciences. It is part of the Uniform Articulation Agreement, which facilitates transfer opportunities for degree recipients to University of North Carolina System schools.

The technology programs offer many local and regional career opportunities and prepare students to become technicians in a variety of STEM-based disciplines. Expertise in crafts such as mechatronics, electronics or electrical wiring is always in demand, and Wake Tech offers programs of study for students who want a project-based, hands-on experience where most instruction takes place in labs.

Technicians perform quality assurance testing, carry out diagnostic, troubleshooting and maintenance procedures on equipment. Solving problems, collecting and analyzing data and conducting experiments are all part of the technician's role in engineering and manufacturing. Students interested in these areas are typically hands-on learners who enjoy challenges and understand the power of teamwork. The programs also offer Work-Based Learning and apprenticeship opportunities with local companies to complement their instruction with field experience.
