Academic Success Workshops
Academic Success workshops are designed to help students develop successful college study habits. By signing up for various interactive workshops on campus, you will learn how to become a better college student by learning study strategies and tips to reach your academic goals.
PLEASE NOTE: All Spring workshops for all campuses are now being offered virtually. Registered students will receive an email with instructions.
- Students are welcome to attend any or all workshop based on their needs during the semester.
- All topics will be covered more than once in order to accommodate your busy schedule!
- ALL workshops are offered at NO CHARGE to students.
- Workshop reservations are made on a first come-first served basis.
- Once a workshop is full, registration will no longer be open.
Motivation is the key to success in college. Motivation can come in many forms. Through an interactive format, students will leave the workshop with motivation tips and tools.

Obtain tips for raising your grade point average to meet academic requirements.
This workshop will stress the importance of assessing your current study skills and help you plan strategies for improvement.

Does the thought of taking a test make you anxious? This workshop will help you cope effectively with test anxiety.
|Stress Management: Don’t Let it Get You Down
Learn to identify your stressors and coping resources. We will review stress management techniques as well as create personal plans to minimize the effects of stress during the academic year.
|Time Management: It’s Time for Success
Learn how to organize and balance your workload to minimize stress during critical periods of the semester.
|Eight Actions for Academic Success
Learn actions students take to achieve academic success. This interactive workshop will enable you to set an academic goal, prioritize your actions for academic success and reflect on your personal success journey!
|Health Science Re-Tooling
This is a 3-hour workshop intended for pre-health science students to (1) identify the academic and non-academic barriers that are impeding entry into a health science program and (2) introduce the variety of academic options and services available to students at Wake Tech.
|Stress and Anxiety Management
Learn to identify your stressors and coping resources. We will review stress management techniques as well as create personal plans to minimize the effects of stress and anxiety during the academic year.
|Why it matters: Career Exploration
Think back to the time when you first began to contemplate college. What was your initial goal of attending Wake Tech? In this workshop, we examine key connections between your motivations to be in college and your ultimate success in achieving your goals. Knowing the preparation you will need for specific careers will help you better set realistic goals, pursue them, and achieve them.
|Maintain your Financial Aid
To receive and keep your financial aid, the federal government requires students to meet a set of standards referred to as Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Attend this workshop to learn about Financial Aid eligibility (grades/completion rates); dropping versus withdrawing from a class; and SAP appeals.

In order to help yourself perform at your best in college, it is essential to keep the lines of communication open with your professors and advisor/s. Learn how to, when to and what to communicate to professors and advisors in this workshop. Communication is key!
