Pathways Student Teams
Peer Mentoring Team
Works in partnership with the Program Coordinator and Student Success Counselors within the Student Success Department, serving ACA 090 and First year Minority Male Students, in efforts to decrease the chances of academic regression; helps student retention by communicating workshop offerings, meetings and updates designed to influence first year students’ completion of their First Year Experience (FYE) program requirements; assists in facilitating academic workshops; serves as motivators and as secondary contacts to FYE students having difficulty meeting FYE requirements.
Composing, posting and distributing retention-based event advertisements across the main and north campuses, marketing at campus-wide events (Facts & Snacks, etc.) and/or regular table set-ups in high student traffic areas (i.e. cafeteria/lobby area of SSB, outside library area); assuring table shift coverage by Pathways students for the duration of marketing events; Uploading photos from Pathways success initiatives to the Pathways’ OrgSync/Xtra portal; maintaining the Pathways’ Facebook page; leading in efforts of assisting the Pathways Coordinator and Office Assistant with the planning and implementation of retention-based initiatives originating from the Pathways office.
Community Mentoring and Outreach Team
Assisting the Pathways Coordinator and Wake Tech recruitment and OVAL (Office of Volunteerism and Leadership) staff with volunteerism and mentoring efforts outside of Wake Tech; being a second line of communication between Pathways and the said entity to facilitate mentoring initiatives at two area public schools (Salem Middle and Athens Drive High); Scheduling program workers for the monthly shelter feedings and/or other volunteerism initiatives; Soliciting volunteers for additional opportunities to engage in community mentoring programs and/or services.
