The Manufacturing Career Pathways Program provides hands-on training to prepare individuals with disabilities for success in manufacturing industries. Students have the opportunity to earn the Certified Manufacturing Associate credential (CMfgA) from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers while exploring career and educational possibilities.
The CMfgA certification focuses on basic manufacturing concepts and demonstrates an individual's potential for high-demand, entry-level manufacturing roles, such as assembler, manufacturing associate or production laborer. It was designed for anyone new to manufacturing who may not possess enough knowledge or experience for more advanced technical certifications and college degree pathways.
Wake Tech's Mechanical Engineering Technology program is teaming up with the Catalyst Program at North Carolina State University in the program to implement the Uniquely Abled curriculum, a nationally recognized program with a track record of helping individuals with disabilities secure meaningful employment in manufacturing.
Students receive hands-on training in these and other essential technical and STEM skills:
The program also provides students with workforce readiness skills that are critical for successful employment. It is tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities, ensuring that they receive the support and training necessary to thrive in the workplace.
Applicants must have a high school diploma and should have at least eighth-grade math and reading skills.
The program costs $308, but scholarships may be available. Classes are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays February 9-27 at Wake Tech's Beltline Education Center.
To learn more about the program and how to apply, sign up for either an in-person or a virtual open house.
