New VP of Communications and Marketing Named

RALEIGH, N.C. (November 7, 2025) – Wake Tech is excited to welcome Lisa Marie Ferrell as its new vice president of Communications and Marketing.

Ferrell will lead and shape the college's integrated communications and marketing strategy to strengthen its brand, elevate its public presence and advance its mission of providing access to education that transforms lives through economic mobility and personal fulfillment. She oversees a team of professionals who bring expertise in branding, marketing, digital strategy, media relations and storytelling to connect Wake Tech's work to the community it serves.

Previously, Ferrell served as chief communications and marketing officer and associate vice chancellor at North Carolina State University, where she led the university's communications and marketing enterprise. She also led North America communications at Lenovo, with responsibility for public relations, corporate communications, events, sponsorships and community engagement. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she helped establish the branding strategy For All Kind: The Campaign for Carolina, which raised more than $5 billion.

"Lisa Marie is an accomplished and experienced communications and marketing professional and brings extensive experience to this role from both higher education and corporate settings. She also has very strong connections to the Wake County community. We look forward to her leadership."

Ferrell has been recognized with numerous professional honors, including the NC Tech Exceptional Performers Award (2023), Tech Woman of the Year nominee (2022), Lenovo Women in Leadership Award (2022), Lenovo Marketing Leader of the Year (2021), American Advertising Gold (2022) and Silver (2018, 2022) and the Triangle Business Journal's Women in Business Award (2013).

She has also been active in the Raleigh community for more than 30 years, serving on boards and advisory councils including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Board of Trustees, The Green Chair Project, the North Carolina Technology Association Advisory Board and as chair of the March of Dimes Eastern North Carolina Chapter.

She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration, with a concentration in marketing and a minor in Italian, at Roanoke College.
