New Leadership for Enrollment, Veterans and Student Support

RALEIGH, N.C. (October 6, 2025) – Wake Tech is pleased to announce three new leaders in Enrollment and Student Services, overseeing enrollment, military and veteran services, and student support.

Scarlet Edwards has been named the new associate vice president for Enrollment Services, which oversees Admissions and Outreach, Financial Aid, Registration and Records and Educational Pathways and Partnerships. Michael Coleman is the new associate vice president for Military, Veterans and Wraparound Support, including the Care Center and Disability Support Services. Faith Palmer is the new dean of the Care Center, which provides wraparound student support in nine areas, including Student Success Coaching, emergency aid, wellness and counseling services, the Nest food pantry, technology assistance, transportation assistance, Student Money Management and support for students transitioning out of foster care.

Edwards has more than 20 years of service at Wake Tech and served as associate vice president for Military, Veterans and Special Programs for the past five years. She began her tenure as a counselor and held several leadership roles over the years, including director of Student Services, associate dean of Academic Advising and Student Success and dean of Academic Advising and Student Success. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University.

Coleman brings a wealth of experience and deep commitment to student success, including prior leadership roles at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Tallahassee State College, New York University, Brooklyn College, Georgia Tech and Florida State University before joining Wake Tech. He most recently served as the dean of the Care Center, where he launched and expanded its reach across multiple campuses. He was also a leader in the development of the college's Care Teams and the Eagle Start Summer Bridge and Student Experience programs. Coleman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University and Master of Arts and Education Specialist degrees, both in Counseling and Human Systems, from Florida State University.

With nearly 20 years of service at Wake Tech, Palmer has led transformative initiatives in College & Career Readiness (CCR) and adult education, most recently serving as the senior director of Operations and Student Success, where she provided oversight for advising, counseling, testing and program performance and accountability in the CCR department. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management from Marymount University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership from North Carolina State University.
