Road Closure to Impact Southern Wake Campus

RALEIGH, N.C. (December 15, 2020) - Traffic changes are coming soon to Wake Tech’s Southern Wake Campus. Beginning January 4, Old McCullers Road on the north side of campus will temporarily close to through traffic between Fayetteville Road (U.S. 401) and Advantage Way. Old McCullers Road will be completely closed at Tech Road, near the campus’s Automotive and Heavy Equipment Technology Building.

The changes are due to the construction of NC 540 (the Triangle Expressway), which is being extended from NC 55 Bypass in Holly Springs to I-40.

Students and employees are encouraged to enter campus via the three entrances on Fayetteville Road – Wake Tech Way, Learning Way or Tech Road. Automotive students and faculty should park in parking lot P and access the building at the designated COVID entrance at the front of the building. Students and faculty can access parking lot P from any of the three campus entrances off Fayetteville Road or from Advantage Way.

A detour route will also be set up on the north side of campus, directing drivers from Ten-Ten Road to the back side of Old McCullers Road.

Road closure and detour signs will be installed. This section of Old McCullers Road, between Tech Road and Advantage Way, is scheduled to remain closed for approximately three months while contractors perform culvert construction.
