RALEIGH, N.C. (October 10, 2019) - Students in Wake Tech’s culinary programs are celebrating success today after winning 37 medals at the NC American Culinary Federation (ACF) Competition at the Scott Northern Wake Campus. The competition included several categories, including buffet platters, cakes, and special showpieces. Student Tendai Majasi won “Best in Show” for her elegant wedding cake "The Garden of Love."
Majasi and other Wake Tech students showed off some impressive skills: 12 entries won gold medals, 10 entries received silver medals, and 15 earned bronze. All the entries were judged on artistry, craftsmanship, theme, and presentation and were awarded points using the official ACF scale.
“I am so proud of my students,” said Chef Caralyn House, Professor/Program Director, Baking & Pastry Arts. “They work really hard to do their very best and create beautiful desserts and showpieces!”
Several high school students from Virginia also competed.
The ACF competition is held each semester to highlight the talents of culinary students as well as skilled professionals. It is also a final project for students in Wake Tech’s associate degree programs in Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts. They receive valuable, one-on-one critiques from the professionals who judge the competition.
