RALEIGH, N.C. (November 12, 2014) – “Just a trim!” That’s what Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott got today, when he joined members of the Student Government Association getting haircuts in the college Cosmetology Salon. The event, organized by SGA President Rye Robinson, was intended to highlight cosmetology students’ need for “real” clients as they complete degree programs. Robinson was making good on a campaign pledge to help those cosmetology students meet their program requirements for hands-on experience.
Nearly 100 students are currently enrolled in Wake Tech’s cosmetology program. The associate’s degree program prepares graduates to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts licensing exam. Students are required to perform hands-on services as part of their training. All services are supervised by instructors. For appointments, call 919-866-7100.
Wake Tech is expanding its cosmetology program to offer evening classes at the Vernon Malone College and Career Academy in Raleigh. Those classes begin in the spring. http://cosmetology.waketech.edu.
