Wake Tech Names Information Technology Leader
RALEIGH, N.C. (December 17, 2014) - Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen C. Scott is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Schwiebert as Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer for the college. Schwiebert, a former community college Vice President of IT and CIO, oversees all of Wake Tech’s information technology and computer systems.
“We’re truly fortunate to have Dr. Schwiebert assume this vital role,” Dr. Scott said. “As educators and administrators we have to embrace technology and all its possibilities so that we can prepare our students for what’s ahead. We need leaders who understand that – and who can help us stay on top of rapid-changes and make the best decisions for our institution.” “I am passionate about technology,” Schwiebert says,” and I believe it is an essential tool for education. My priority is to make that technology as accessible as possible for our students, faculty, staff, and community.”
Before coming to Wake Tech, Schwiebert served as Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Southwestern Community College. He received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology at Northern Illinois University before earning a Master of Science in Technology and Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Western Carolina University. Schwiebert also completed the Chief Information Officer Certificate program offered at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Schwiebert lives in Apex. He and his wife Valerie have three children.
