RALEIGH, N.C. (October 1, 2016) - Dozens of local vets and their families found helpful resources, food, and fun today at the annual Veterans Summit at Wake Tech. The free event on Main Campus featured workshops on a variety of topics, advice on starting a business, career and image counseling, and even Salsa dancing lessons! Veterans learned more about the many community resources available to them, as well as Wake Tech courses and degree programs that can lead to career advancement.
“Wake Tech is a very veteran-friendly college,” said Ernestine Ledbetter, head of Noncredit Computer Education and organizer of the event. “And that’s intentional. We want to open our arms to veterans and help them transition from life in the military to civilian life.”
The Veterans Summit was sponsored by several groups, including Wake Tech Military and Veteran Programs and the Wake Tech Student Veterans Association.
Wake Tech provides a variety of services for veterans (and their family members) pursuing education, training, and professional development; including accelerated training programs, assistance with VA benefits and financial aid, and options for translating military experience into workplace credentials.
