Students Win Honors at FBLA State Conference

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 30, 2023) – Wake Tech students won 10 awards during the North Carolina Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate State Leadership Conference this month in Greensboro.

FBLA Collegiate, formerly Phi Beta Lambda, is the world's largest business career and technical student organization.

Wake Tech students showcased their leadership skills in competitive events against universities and colleges from across North Carolina, winning the following awards:  

Second Place

  • Bradley Huntoon, Foundations of Technology
  • Michael Ayodele, Future Business Executive

Third Place

  • John Grasso, Accounting Case Competition
  • Bradley Huntoon, Foundations of Computer Science and Job Interview
  • Camryn Jamison, Marketing, Sales and Communication Case Competition

Fourth Place

  • Charles Swinarski, Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition

Fifth Place

  • Charles, Swinarski, Marketing, Sales and Communication Case Competition

Sixth Place

  • Bradley Huntoon, Public Speaking

Seventh Place

  • Michael Ayodele, Foundations of Finance

The students will compete at the FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference June 24-27 in Orlando, Fla.

Additionally, Jamison completed her role as vice president of marketing for 2023-24 and was named Who's Who in North Carolina FBLA Collegiate, one of only four students to receive the honor.

Wake Tech's chapter was recognized for having the second-largest membership in the state, with 50 members, and for increasing membership since last year.  It also received the Gold Star Award, the Legacy Leadership Award and was one of four Gold Seal chapters for its outstanding participation in programs, activities, conferences and goals of FBLA Collegiate.

Michele Parrish, Wake Tech's FBLA adviser, was a guest speaker and was reappointed as the communications director for North Carolina. She also served on the State Awards Program Committee that oversees the competitive events at the state conference. She was recognized for her 20 years as an FBLA adviser.
