More EV Charging Stations for Students, Employees

RALEIGH, N.C. (February 29, 2024) – Students, employees and visitors at Wake Tech's Perry Health Sciences Campus can now power up their electric vehicles onsite.

Two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, each with two charging ports, have been installed on the first level of the parking deck. They were made possible by a $25,000 grant through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program. Students, employees and visitors can use the four EV charging spaces at no cost. One of the spaces is ADA accessible.

"With the increased use of EVs, these new charging stations provide much needed infrastructure for our students, employees and visitors and allow us to expand our charging options for EV drivers traveling to and from campus," said John Majernik, director of Energy, Sustainability and Transportation at Wake Tech.

Wake Tech encourages the use of green transportation options. The college now offers a total of 40 parking spaces with EV charging capabilities across its campus locations. There are 12 parking spaces with EV charging ports at RTP Campus, 10 each at Southern Wake Campus and the soon-to-open Wake Tech East location and four at Scott Northern Wake Campus. The college also offers priority parking spaces for low-emission vehicles at five campuses.
