RALEIGH, N.C. (May 26, 2026) – Seventeen Wake Tech students have been selected as recipients of the prestigious Goodnight Transfer Scholarship at North Carolina State University.
The full-ride scholarship supports North Carolina community college graduates pursuing bachelor’s degrees at N.C. State. The Wake Tech students will begin their next academic journey this fall as Goodnight Transfer Scholars.
The scholarship is valued at $24,000 per year for up to three years and covers the full cost of attendance, along with additional academic and professional development opportunities.
Wake Tech recipients were selected based on exceptional achievements during their community college careers, including academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, community engagement and a strong interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and education.

Recipients participated in a competitive selection process during the spring semester that included an application and interview with a volunteer committee of current and former N.C. State faculty, staff and alumni, along with industry representatives from SAS Institute.
Navleen Kaur, who served as a student ambassador and peer tutor at Wake Tech and earned her Associate in Science degree, said she is honored to be selected as a Goodnight Scholar.
“As an international student, Wake Tech pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me build the confidence and leadership skills I needed to grow,” Kaur said. “Wake Tech truly became my foundation for both academic and personal growth. At N.C. State, I hope to continue developing as a leader, giving back to the community and making the most of every opportunity ahead.”
Kaur is passionate about biology and chemistry and plans to pursue a career as a physician.
The Goodnight Scholars Program was established in 2008 by NC State alumni Jim and Ann Goodnight to provide financial support to North Carolina students from low- and middle-income families pursuing STEM education. In 2017, the program expanded to include transfer students from North Carolina community colleges enrolling at N.C. State after completing an associate degree.
To date, 114 Wake Tech students have been named Goodnight Transfer Scholars.
