RALEIGH, N.C. (May 12, 2026) – The Wake Tech baseball team has made program history, winning its first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 10 Division II championship and earning a spot in the NJCAA World Series.

The Eagles clinched the region title with a 12–8 victory over No. 2 nationally ranked Brunswick Community College in a winner-take-all championship game. Wake Tech rebounded after an earlier tournament loss to Brunswick, defeating the Dolphins twice in less than 24 hours to secure the championship.

Wake Tech enters the NJCAA World Series with strong momentum. Since April 11, the Eagles have posted a 16–2 record and head into national tournament play with an overall record of 31–22. Their late‑season surge places Wake Tech among the hottest teams in the country.

The championship marks a milestone moment for Wake Tech Athletics and reflects the leadership of Head Coach DJ Russ and assistant coaches Matt Ellsworth and Rhett James, as well as the dedication of the student-athletes.

"This championship is about more than wins," said Athletic Director Robin Pate. "Our student‑athletes are succeeding academically and athletically, and that balance is something we are incredibly proud of at Wake Tech."

The Eagles will travel to David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Okla., for the NJCAA World Series, which runs May 23-30. Tournament brackets and matchups will be announced on the NJCAA Network on May 19 at 5:30 p.m.

Additional details about a send-off celebration for the Region 10 champions will be shared in the coming days.

Go Eagles!
