Heartsaver CPR/AED/1st Aid

The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course trains participants to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
This course teaches skills with the AHA's research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students' learning of skills.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion the student will be able to recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where CPR, AED, or first aid skills may be needed.

Student will be able to recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where First Aid Basics skills may be needed

Student will be able to recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where Medical Emergencies skills may be needed

Student will be able to recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where Injury emergencies skills may be needed

Student will be able to recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where Environmental emergencies skills may be needed

Student will be able to recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where Adult CPR & AED use skills may be needed

Student will be able to recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where (Optional modules) child and infant CPR/AED use may be needed


Outline of instruction

CPR mechanics and techniques; .

AED purpose and practical use with special manikins

Demonstration of first aid skills including epi pen administration,

hemorrhage control and personal protective equipment.

Certification Learning Outcomes/Requirements

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.
