Water Leak on Southern Wake Campus

Emergency repairs to a leaking underground water pipe will begin Tuesday evening, September 22, 2026. Tuesday classes will continue as scheduled, but repairs may require Southern Wake Campus to close on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Wake Tech will send an update through WARN by 11 p.m. Tuesday and, if needed, another by 6 a.m. Wednesday.

High School Equivalency Preparation

Need your high school equivalency, which can lead to better job opportunities? Wake Tech can help you prepare for the GED® or HiSET® test.

Wake Tech also offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) for individuals who want to increase their workplace readiness skills and who need assistance getting to the high school performance level so they can obtain an equivalency degree.

ABE provides instruction in workforce preparedness, reading, writing, math and technology skills. Classes are designed for the needs of the adult learner, and morning, afternoon and evening sessions are offered at several locations throughout Wake County.

  • Explore career pathways through enrollment in an ABE class and a non-degree Workforce Development class at the same time.
  • Build foundational skills in reading, writing, math and technology for further educational and employment opportunities. (Available to individuals with or without a high school diploma.)
  • Begin building background knowledge for passing the high school equivalency test.

A placement test will determine if you're ready for a High School Equivalency Preparation course or need the additional instruction provided through ABE.

Las clases de preparación para la equivalencia de high school en español son gratuitas y están disponibles tanto de forma presencial como en línea. Se imparten los lunes, martes y miércoles, de 9 a. m. a 12 p. m. o de 6 a 9 p. m.
