Students in the Construction Management Technology program must meet the following technical standards:
Able to read blueprints, sketches, schematic diagrams and other printed documents
Able to clearly distinguish colors, shades and textures of various materials, fabrics and soils
Good peripheral vision and depth perception
Able to distinguish various sounds, tones and pitches emitted by construction equipment and voice-sound communication
Able to communicate with co-workers at a moderate distance without a line of sight
No debilitating fear of heights, crawl spaces or confined spaces
Able to effectively and clearly communicate with others in English and to accurately gather, disseminate and clarify specific information
Able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment as required by industry and specific duties:
Hard hats
Safety glasses
Steel-toe boots
Gloves
Face mask
Reflective vest
Safety harnesses
Able to understand orders, instructions and descriptions and to read and comprehend technical manuals, manufacturer's instructions and warning labels in English
No fear of noise from the use of heavy equipment and various other tools that may be used on a construction site
Able to use a computer
Able to climb a ladder or scaffolding or other similar device without assistance
Able to lift a dead weight of at least 40 pounds without assistance
No physical impairments that would prevent ordinary, necessary and safe personal movement on or about a construction site
