PLC Build and Troubleshooting For John Deere

The course is all hands on utilizing the Industrial Training University's PLC Troubleshooting Panel which is a mini-electrical/PLC lab. Participants will form two-person teams and troubleshoot a series of common PLC circuit faults utilizing a schematic and a multi-meter. In addition, teams will wire multiple PLC control panel circuits utilizing a circuit schematic.

Course Objectives

review PLC Components and functions

recognize and read electrical/PLC schematic

describe how to connect a PLC industrial control circuit; program, download programs and operate the PLC.

identify how to troubleshoot PLC circuits and accomplish fault analysis utilizing a schematic and a multi-meter.

The ability to interface PLC and computer hookup and monitoring, PLC operation and perform Fault analysis and Correction.

The ability to use Schematics and PLC Code to Select, Mount and Wire Components to complete functional circuit


Outline of instruction

LESSON 1: Learn the History & Parts of a PLC.
LESSON 2: Review Safety Requirements and Learn Field Wiring the PLC.
LESSON 3: Learn How to Connect to the PLC with a PC.
LESSON 4: Learn How to Program the PLC Using Basic Ladder Logic.
LESSON 5: Perform Setup A (Wiring to Base CPU and Output Module).
LESSON 6: Perform Setup B (Add additional Output Devices to Output Module).
LESSON 7: Perform Setup C (Add additional Input and Output Devices)
LESSON 8: Perform Setup D (Add additional Input Devices and Introduce Software Timer Functions)
LESSON 9: Perform Setup E (Modify existing Software Program to Add Functionality)
Lesson 10: Perform Setup Extra 1 (Verify Wiring of Input and Output Devices, Generate and Verify Code)
Lesson 11: Perform Setup Extra 2 (Introduce Software Counters (Count UP Function)
