Pathways

The Career & College Promise program (CCP) provides three pathways for students:

• College Transfer pathways are designed for high school students who wish to begin earning college credit toward an Associate in Arts, Associate in Engineering, Associate in Science or Associate in Fine Arts degree, which are intended for eventual transfer to a four-year college or university. The pathways include courses prescribed in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for transferring credits from North Carolina community colleges to UNC System institutions.
   
• Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways lead to a certificate or diploma aligned with a high school career cluster. They are designed for students who want to work toward completing a credential before graduating high school. Email Career & College Promise staff at [email protected] with questions on what is needed for these courses.
  The Nurse Aide, Medical Assisting and Cosmetology CTE pathways have limited seating and a different registration process for courses. All three require CCP staff collaboration with the department to register students, and they may have additional costs not covered by the department or CCP.
   
• Cooperative Innovative High Schools offer the opportunity to earn tuition-free college credit at designated Wake County high schools.

State guidelines set specific pathway eligibility standards to enroll in CCP and then remain in a chosen pathway. The standards, which include grades in both high school and Wake Tech courses, vary according to whether a student is in a College Transfer or CTE pathway and by the student's year in high school.
