Recognizing the heroic work of first responders, Wake Tech is ensuring that firefighters from across the Triangle and beyond are well-trained for when the next crisis hits. The college broke ground on a unique $23 million Fire and Rescue Training Center at Wake Tech East, the college's newest location in Wendell. It will be the first training facility of its kind in the region.
Dr. Scott Ralls welcomes Dr. Jamie Wicker, Wake Tech Public Safety provost, and Craig Daigle, Wake Tech Fire Academy coordinator, to talk more about how this unique facility will be used for advanced firefighting techniques and rescue scenarios in mid- to high-rise buildings, hazardous materials training and vehicle extrications.
Dr. Jamie Wicker is provost of Wake Tech's Public Safety programs.
Craig Daigle is coordinator of the Wake Tech Fire Academy.
