Wake Tech is closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday. Prospective students can still apply online, and current students can register for mini-mester courses. All classes will resume and offices will reopen Tuesday morning.
Students will learn hair cutting and styling techniques, design work, hair coloring, shampooing, shaving with a straight razor, hair replacement and other skills.
There are various topics, some of which are sanitation and safety, skin and scalp microbiology, hair structure and function, basic anatomy and physiology, massage and facials, chemicals and chemistry, and others.
In keeping with the North Carolina State Barbering Board, we require at least 1,528 clock hours in order to graduate from the Wake Tech Barbering program.
Wake Tech offers a full-time day program and a part-time evening program.
The day program meets Monday though Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the evening program meets Tuesday through Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The day program takes about 12 months to complete, while the evening program takes about 18 months.
Yes, we offer services to help students find employment.
