What will I learn in the Barbering classes?

Students will learn hair cutting and styling techniques, design work, hair coloring, shampooing, shaving with a straight razor, hair replacement, and other skills.

What are some of the topics that make up the Barbering program?

There are various topics, some of which are sanitation and safety, skin and scalp microbiology, hair structure and function, basic anatomy and physiology, massage and facials, chemicals and chemistry, and others.

How many hours are required to complete the program?

In keeping with the NC State Barbering Board, we require at least 1,528 clock hours in order to graduate from the Wake Tech Barbering program.

What are the hours of the program?

We offer a Full-Time Day Program and a Part-Time Evening Program. Day/Full-time meets Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Evening / Part-Time meets Tuesday-Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

How long does it take to complete the program?

It will take about 12 months to complete the Full-Time Day Program, and about 18 months to complete the Part-Time Evening program.

Yes, we offer services to help assist you with finding employment.
