College Honored for Commitment to Wellness

RALEIGH, N.C. (August 5, 2025) - Wake Tech has earned a prestigious honor from Insight Into Academia Magazine, a leading national publication for higher education. The college has received the publication’s 2025 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award, recognizing its outstanding commitment to the health and wellness of students, faculty, and staff.
Wake Tech offers a comprehensive range of resources to support the college community, including mental health support through the WeCare Employee Assistance and Student Assistance Programs, mentoring and coaching opportunities, and access to campus fitness facilities.
In addition, Wake Tech's Care Center provides essential wraparound services for students, such as food resources from the Nest Food Pantry, emergency financial assistance, and transportation aid.
“Our Care Center and Care Teams offer personalized assistance and resources to help students stay on track to achieve their educational and career goals,” said Mike Coleman, Associate Vice President of Military, Veterans and Wraparound Support at Wake Tech. “We want to make sure life’s challenges don’t get in the way of their success.”
Wake Tech also demonstrates a strong commitment to employee well-being through ongoing professional development, paid parental leave, and recognition for outstanding service.
Wake Tech will be featured, along with 70 other recipients, in the September 2025 issue of Insight Into Academia magazine.
“We know that institutions are not always recognized for their dedication to their mental health and well-being services and support for their students and employees,” says Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of Insight Into Academia magazine. “We are proud to honor these colleges and universities as role models for other institutions of higher education.”
