Coleman, Torres Reappointed to Board of Trustees
RALEIGH, N.C. (August 17, 2021) – Two members of the Wake Tech Board of Trustees have been reappointed for another four-year term.
Linda D. Coleman and Dr. Juan Torres took their oaths of office during a virtual ceremony at the August 17 regular board meeting.
New SGA President Huda Patel also took her oath of office and serves as an ex-officio non-voting member for 2021-22. Patel is an associate in arts student who wants to pursue a career in accounting.
Coleman, a former state representative and Wake Tech Foundation board member, has served as a Wake Tech trustee since 2009. She was appointed by the Wake County Board of Education. Torres, founder and board chairman of Ingenuitas, joined the board in 2020 and was appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners.
Jamie Thomas was reappointed as board chair for 2021-22 and Kellie Falk was reappointed as vice chair.
Wake Tech is served by 12 trustees, all of whom are appointed: four by the Governor, four by the Wake County Board of Commissioners, and four by the Wake County Board of Education. Trustees establish policy for Wake Tech, approve the annual budget, and serve as advocates for the college and its services.
