Raleigh Native is First HUB Coordinator at Wake Tech
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 16, 2019) - Wake Tech has welcomed a new member to the Facilities Design and Construction team. Carla Daniels is the college’s first Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) Coordinator. In this new role, Daniels will work closely with project managers and facilities staff to support small, minority, and women-owned businesses in contract and purchasing opportunities. Her responsibilities include community outreach and technical assistance to HUB firms. She will also provide firms with information on project bid opportunities.
“My goal is to develop a HUB program that promotes awareness, provides technical assistance to businesses, and promotes inclusion.” said Daniels.
Prior to joining Wake Tech, Daniels served as the Business Development Specialist in the NC Department of Administration’s Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses. In addition to identifying bid opportunities for HUB certified firms, Daniels provided one-on-one technical assistance to firms seeking certification and business development services.
Daniels is a native of Raleigh and earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Meredith College.
She is involved in several advocacy groups that support the minority and women-owned business community: the United Minority Contractors Association, the Women’s Business Center of NC, The MWBE Coordinators Network, and the Hispanic Contractors Association.
