Wake Tech Names New Job Placement Director

RALEIGH, N.C. (June 14, 2010) - Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Technical Community College, has named Deborah Hadley as the new Director of Job Placement and Cooperative Education. Hadley is an HR professional with more than 25 years in the field. She's been an instructor in Wake Tech's Business Technologies Division since 2003, teaching Human Resources Management. In her new role, she'll assist thousands of students and graduates each year, helping them build job search skills and connect with potential employers.

Helping people find work in this economy is obviously not an easy task," said Dr. Scott. "That's why we're fortunate to have someone with Deb's experience working with our students. I know she'll do her best to prepare them for the job market, and I'm confident she's up to the challenge."

As Director of Job Placement and Cooperative Education, Hadley will work with students on soft skills such as resume writing, interviewing and networking. In addition to helping graduates find permanent employment, Hadley will work with area employers to create cooperative education opportunities for students. Co-op experiences provide students with real-world, on-the-job training related to their program of study - and give employers qualified and focused workers. Co-op placements often lead to permanent employment.

Before coming to Wake Tech, Hadley was an HR consultant for various companies and a part-time instructor at Peace College. She has also served as HR Director for Weavexx, Inc. in Raleigh and HR Manager for The Raytheon Company and GTECH Corporation, both in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Hadley holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California State University and a master's degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from the University of Rhode Island. She currently lives in Raleigh.
