Governor Bev Perdue Visits Wake Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 4, 2011) - Wake Tech had an unexpected visitor Wednesday night. Governor Bev Perdue stopped by the Public Safety Education Campus to talk with students in some high demand short-term training classes. She spoke with students in a ten-week Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration course, as well as those in a three-month Certified Nursing Assistant class. Both programs were expanded through the Governor's JobsNow initiative. Many of the students already hold degrees and work during the day. They told her they are upgrading their skills in the hopes of getting a new or better job. Other students, who had been laid off, are taking the classes to pursue a career in a high-demand field. The Governor told them she will work to support funding for community college programs. http://conted.waketech.edu Photos provided by the Office of Gov. Bev Perdue.
