RALEIGH, N.C. (April 2, 2013) - Wake Tech Community College partnered with U.S. Senator Kay Hagan to host the "Back-to-Work North Carolina Jobs Fair" today. Nearly 100 employers with current job openings participated, and more than 1,000 job seekers attended to network with industry reps, distribute resumes, and scout out opportunities. The event took place in Wake Tech’s Student Services Building on Main Campus. It was free for employers and job seekers.
It was encouraging to see the tremendous number of employers ready to put North Carolinians back to work at today’s job fair,” said Hagan. “Jobs are my number one priority, and I am committed to working with small business owners, employers, workforce development boards and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to create a business climate that fosters growth.”
“We’re pleased to partner with Senator Hagan on this extremely important event,” says Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott. “As the state’s largest community college, Wake Tech provides a path to a better future for thousands of people every year. This is a great way that we can offer hope, opportunity and jobs to students who will soon be graduating—and to others in our community seeking employment.”
Employers at the job fair included Red Hat, Duke Energy, Time Warner Cable, Grifols, ABB, Ubisoft, Raleigh Police Department, Verizon Wireless and Xerox.
