Hiring Our Heroes Career Fair At Wake Tech
RALEIGH, N.C. (October 8, 2013) - Veterans came to Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus today to explore career pathways and meet prospective employers. “Hiring Our Heroes,” an employment workshop and hiring fair designed especially for veterans, featured more than 40 local and regional employers. Representatives from LapCorp, Xerox Corporation, Coty, Pergo, Goodyear, and Verizon, among others, talked with the 100+ veterans who attended. The fair provided opportunities for veterans to learn about job openings, hand out resumes, and network with company recruiters.
The event was sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Greater Raleigh of Chamber of Commerce, the NCDOL Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, the North Carolina Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, WorkSource North Carolina, NBC News, and other local partners. GE sponsored a workshop focused on job search skills, resume writing, and interviewing.
Wake Tech Community College is holding a series of events on two campuses to honor military veterans and offer them a variety of support services. A veterans’ summit was held September 13, and two special tributes will take place on the Main and Northern Wake campuses on Friday, November 8.
