RALEIGH, N.C. (September 16, 2015) - Today, Wake Tech celebrated STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – at the second annual STEM Day on Main Campus. Students, faculty, and staff gathered to see exhibits and demonstrations illustrating the STEM disciplines, including a trebuchet demonstration and live “shows” of the explosive combination of Mentos candies and Diet Coke.
“STEM Day is a fun way to engage the college community and highlight the exciting scope of STEM,” said Sharon Welker, Dean of Mathematics and Sciences at Wake Tech. “Faculty, staff, and student club leaders are passionate about these programs of study because of the great potential they offer students. With STEM, the possibilities are endless!”
STEM education at Wake Tech helps students build a foundation for exciting, rewarding careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and assume leadership roles in their chosen professions and communities. At Wake Tech, STEM education extends through the College Transfer, Health Sciences, Applied Engineering and Technologies, and Computer Technologies programs.
