Wake Tech Holds Fall 2015 Commencement Exercises

RALEIGH, N.C. (December 12, 2015) - More than 700 students received degrees and diplomas at today’s commencement exercises on Main Campus. Two ceremonies were held: the first at 9:00 a.m.; the second at noon. Many of the graduates will be headed straight into the workforce; others will be transferring to four-year institutions to advance their education.

In the first ceremony, Robert Schaaf, who graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Analytics and a 4.0 grade point average, was the commencement speaker. He had the opportunity to be on the stage to present a degree to his son, Robert Schaaf, Jr., who also graduated. Robert Junior received an AAS degree in Business Administration.

The commencement speaker for the second ceremony was Latesha Sharpe, the 2015-2016 Stephen C. Scott Scholar. She graduated with an Associate in Arts degree and plans to pursue a career in nursing. President Scott told the graduates that although they have completed their degrees, “This is not the end. Commencement means the beginning: it’s the beginning of the rest of your lives. Take what you have learned here,” he said, “And use it to make a better life for yourselves and your families!”

Board of Trustees Chair Harvey Montague urged graduates to stay in touch as active alumni of Wake Tech. Parts of each of the ceremonies were broadcast live via Periscope.
