Heavy Equipment Open House Connects Students and Employers
RALEIGH, N.C. (February 21, 2017) - John Deere heavy equipment dealers and vendors who work on John Deere equipment from across the Southeast joined students and faculty at a Wake Tech Open House on Tuesday, February 21. The annual event, showcasing the college’s John Deere Agriculture Technology program, was a huge success, with more than 250 attending.
Dealers and vendors came to recruit Wake Tech grads; they need John-Deere certified workers, and Wake Tech’s program is one of only 21 in North America offering certified training. Dealerships sponsor students in the program, providing tuition reimbursement and other incentives, such as the heavy equipment maintenance tools they will need in the workplace.
Wake Tech currently has 31 students from several states in the program. High school students who may be considering enrolling in the program this fall were also in attendance.
