Crosby, Nagaraj Join Wake Tech Board of Trustees

RALEIGH, N.C. (August 20, 2024) – Martin Marietta executive David N. "Buzz" Crosby and Celito founder and President Sharat Nagaraj are the newest members of the Wake Tech Board of Trustees.

Crosby, appointed to a four-year term by the North Carolina Senate, is the Atlantic Coast Region vice president for Martin Marietta. He serves on the board of directors for both the Wake County Boys & Girls Clubs and the Research Triangle Regional Partnership. He is also a former member of the Wake Tech Foundation Board of Directors.

Nagaraj, appointed to a four-year term by the North Carolina House, is the founder of Celito, a Raleigh company that creates technology solutions for businesses. He is also chair of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, a member of the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Centers Authority and member of the YMCA of the Triangle Board of Directors. He was also co-chair of the college's successful 2018 bond campaign.

Meanwhile, Walter Davenport, a certified public accountant who joined the board in 2020, is returning for a second four-year term. He was reappointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners.

Kellie Falk was elected chair of the board, and Dr. Saundra Williams was elected vice chair. Each will serve a one-year term.

Wake Tech is served by 12 trustees, all of whom are appointed: eight by the North Carolina General Assembly and four by the Wake County Board of Commissioners. Trustees establish policy for Wake Tech, approve the annual budget and serve as advocates for the college and its services.

New Student Government Association (SGA) President Silas Johnson is an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees for 2024-25. The SGA president is encouraged to share ideas and concerns with the board but does not vote on board issues.

Crosby, Nagaraj, Davenport and Johnson took their oaths of office during the August 20 regular board meeting.
