FAFSA® Day is Saturday
RALEIGH, N.C. (April 22, 2024) – Need help paying for college? The first step is to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), and Wake Tech is here to help!
The college is hosting FAFSA® Day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Scott Northern Wake Campus, Building C, and at Southern Wake Campus, Building L.
Students seeking federal aid must complete a FAFSA® each academic year. The process is free, and the information provided can qualify students for federal and state aid in addition to other financial aid programs, such as the Next NC Scholarship.
The Next NC Scholarship is available to help students from North Carolina households making $80,000 or less pursue higher education at one of the state's 58 community colleges or 16 public universities. Qualifying students at community colleges are guaranteed at least $3,000, which pays for most, if not all, of the cost of tuition. The scholarship award can also be used to pay for fees and books. The money does not have to be repaid.
On FAFSA® Day, students can receive assistance from Financial Aid Office staff and get answers to general financial aid questions. The 2024-25 FAFSA® includes numerous changes and enhancements to streamline the application process, reduce questions and barriers and expand eligibility.
Students are encouraged to register for FAFSA® Day in advance so that financial aid staff will be better prepared to assist. They are also encouraged to complete their Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) prior to FAFSA® Day. The student and spouse or parent(s) should bring their 2022 federal tax returns and W-2s.
Ann Guevremont, Wake Tech's dean of Financial Aid, says all students should complete a FAFSA®.
"Eligible students leave free money on the table every year. So, why not?" says Guevremont. "Complete the FAFSA® and discover potential eligibility for various opportunities. You never know what you might qualify for!"
