RALEIGH, N.C. (December 8, 2022) – Wake Tech students in Baking and Pastry Arts showcased their baking skills today at the Scott Northern Wake Campus. Students sold their original desserts, pastries and treats at the popular Bakers' Row event. Some customers ordered goodies in advance and picked them up, while others purchased treats in person.
Students made the baked goodies entirely from scratch. They sold everything from savory ham and cheese croissants, rosemary focaccia bread and puff pastry cheese straws to tarts, cakes, cookies and truffles.
"I am so proud of our students," said Chef Caralyn House, Baking and Pastry Arts senior professor and program director. "They are learning how to bake delicious treats and what it takes to run a business. This event is always a great learning experience!"
Bakers' Row is an end-of-year project for students in the Baking and Pastry Arts associate degree program, which prepares aspiring bakers for entry into the industry as pastry chefs, cake designers and bakery managers.
