College Connects Spanish-Speaking Community to Education and Career Pathways
RALEIGH, N.C. (July 21, 2026) – Wake Tech welcomed a record-breaking 270 attendees to its fourth-annual Open House en Español, offering Spanish-speaking adults a chance to explore the college's workforce training and education programs.
Held both in person at the Beltline Education Center and virtually on Microsoft Teams, the event highlighted educational pathways available in Spanish, including curriculum programs, workforce training opportunities and resources to help students achieve their academic and career goals.
"Our main mission is to provide education to our community," said Maribel Madera, Wake Tech's director for Community Outreach & Partnerships. "We're creating programs that help people improve their quality of life."
Guests attended presentations showcasing Wake Tech's curriculum and workforce training opportunities, including two-year degree programs, high school equivalency, college and career readiness, skilled trades, cosmetology and allied health programs. Attendees also visited information tables covering topics like admissions, financial aid, English as a Second Language, hospitality and culinary arts, career services, small-business resources, interpreter and translation programs, and student support services.
In addition to learning about programs, attendees explored hands-on spaces, including the HVAC and construction labs and the cosmetology salon, getting a firsthand look at the classrooms and tools available to students.
