Nurse Aide I Refresher

This course is designed to provide a review of the Nurse Aide l core content to prepare individuals who have been or are currently listed on a Nurse Aide l Registry, have successfully completed a state-approved training program, hold a state-recognized health care credential from any state or military personnel who have had medical/corpsman training to sit for the Nurse Aide l State Exam.

Course Objectives

Demonstrate an understanding of basic nursing skills, personal care skills, recognition of mental health and social service needs, care of cognitively impaired residents, basic restorative services and resident rights

Successfully perform all National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) skills with 90% proficiency

Certification Learning Outcomes/Requirements

Students must demonstrate their knowledge of nurse aide principles through both written and skills performance evaluations to successfully pass the nurse aide competency exam.

Prerequisites

An expired North Carolina Nurse Aide l listing or an expired out-of-state listing with no substantiated findings, or a successful completion of a North Carolina or out-of-state Nurse Aide l program from an accredited institution within the last five years. Or a current Nurse Aide l listing from another state with no substantiated findings. Or proof of completion of military corpsman training. Or completion of a RN, LPN or above training.
