Fair Play 101: The Hidden Work of Adulting
College prepares you for your career, but what about the invisible work of life? From planning meals to managing emotions to remembering everyone's medication, invisible labor shapes relationships, careers and economies. In this interactive 90-minute workshop, learn what invisible labor is and how it relates to key sociological concepts of family and work like emotional labor and the second shift.
This workshop is a helpful introduction to the Fair Play system and will be beneficial for anyone at any phase of "adulting." Through interactive exercises and reflection, explore the research-backed Fair Play framework with May Flam, a professional certified coach, speaker and teacher. She will help participants build skills to see and name cognitive, emotional and domestic labor. You'll get a chance to discuss how these concepts can promote career success and leave with fresh awareness and tools to make this labor visible in your future households and communities.
This is a virtual event, and all Wake Tech faculty and staff are welcome to attend! Join the Social Sciences Club Teams channel for the meeting link and more.
