High School Culinary Teachers Sharpen Skills at Wake Tech

High school culinary teachers from across the state came to Wake Tech to keep their skills sharp! Twenty-three teachers attended a two-day culinary boot camp sponsored by the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association, ProStart, and Wake Tech. Chef Jeff Hadley, Department Head for Wake Tech Culinary Arts, led the annual training with other Wake Tech instructors. High school teachers learned new cooking techniques and presentation styles that they will take back to their classrooms. Instruction included menu layout and design, recipe costing tools, and plating techniques.

ProStart is a nationwide, two-year high school program that reaches over 150,000 students in more than 1,900 high schools! Students in the program learn everything from culinary techniques to management skills. Chef Hadley is a lead judge for ProStart competitions in North Carolina. He also serves as a Board member for the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association Hospitality Education Foundation.
