Students Win National Honors

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 15, 2019) - Wake Tech students took home top honors after an excellent showing at Phi Beta Lambda’s National Leadership Conference competition, held June 23-28 in San Antonio, Texas. Phi Beta Lambda is the national student academic organization for business and leadership.

Wake Tech students won five awards:

  • Trevis McCullough placed third in the nation in Global Analysis and Decision Making and tenth in Management Analysis and Decision Making.
  • Matthew Courtney earned fourth place in Strategic Analysis and Decision Making.
  • Allan Thompson placed seventh in Job Interview
  • David Burris earned ninth place in Future Business Executive

Seven Wake Tech students competed in the nationals after winning at the statewide Phi Beta Lambda competition. They showcased their leadership skills in competitive events against universities and colleges from across the United States. More than 1,600 students and advisors attended the event.

“This national competition is a great opportunity for our students,” said Walter Martin, Provost, Career Programs & Chief Campus Officer, Southern Wake Campus. “They compete in various events, share their successes, and learn new ideas about shaping their careers through workshops and exhibits.”

In addition to the student awards, Wake Tech came away with third place in Professional Division membership for the U.S. Southern Region and fifth in the nation.
