Professor to Provide Emergency Response Training in Angola

RALEIGH, N.C. (October 24, 2014) - A Wake Tech professor is heading to Angola where he will train doctors in remote clinics on how to improve response to medical emergencies.

Lee Wittmann, an associate professor in Wake Tech’s EMS program, is an international consultant and trainer in emergency medical services.  He will take the latest high-tech EMS equipment, along with three ambulances, to clinics in remote villages.

Wittmann made a similar trip to Ghana in 2007 to provide ambulances and teach health care workers how to use the latest equipment. His interest in emergency medicine began when he was transported out of Africa with malaria and rheumatic fever as a Peace Corps volunteer, in the early 1990s. He received his degree in Emergency Medical Science at Wake Tech before beginning his teaching career.
